It’s about families working harder than ever and still feeling left behind.
It’s about communities growing faster than they’re supported.
And it’s about the need for real leadership—leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.
That’s why Doug Conaway is running for State Representative in Delaware’s 41st District.
THIS ISN’T ABOUT POLITICS.
MEET DOUG.
Doug graduated from Epworth Christian School in Laurel, DE and continued his education at Delaware Technical & Community College earning an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
While serving in the military he received a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from Roger Williams University.
Doug deployed in support of Operation Uphold Democracy, United Nations Mission in Haiti, Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Joint Guardian, and Operation Joint Endeavor. He has earned various awards throughout his career including the Legion of Merit (x2) and Bronze Star Medal. Additionally, Doug has completed every level of Professional Development for the Non-Commissioned Officer including the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.
Command Sargent Major Conaway’s last assignment (right) was the G3 Sergeant Major where he served as a principal advisor on all enlisted matters relative to training and education for more than 300,000 Soldiers stationed across the globe.
Why Doug Is Running
Across District 41, people are seeing the same challenges every day—rising costs, crowded roads, and a lack of planning for the future. Families are being asked to do more with less, while real solutions continue to fall short.
Doug believes it doesn’t have to be this way.
He’s stepping up to bring practical, results-driven leadership back to the district—focused on solving problems, not creating more of them.
A Life Built on Service
Doug Conaway has spent his life serving others—leading in high-pressure environments, making tough decisions, and always putting people first.
That experience has shaped how he approaches leadership: with accountability, discipline, and a commitment to doing what’s right—even when it’s not easy.
Now, he’s bringing that same mindset to serve the people of Delaware.
after the military
After retirement from the military on May 31, 2020, Doug saw the need to help out young families struggling and started a general contracting company called Douglas Builders. The company has built approximately 17 homes since its start in 2020 but has made a great impact on the community. In 2024 Doug purchased an abandoned property on Route 24 and cleared the damaged trailer and is currently building a small house for a young Sussex County couple at cost. This year Doug will start a house for a Veteran and will donate all of time and profits to make the house more affordable. Additionally, he has worked with other local companies and received several items at no cost that will drastically reduce the price of the house for another young Sussex County couple.
Doug and his wife of 28 years, Christie, have two children. Grant graduated from Columbus State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting and is serving as a Forensic Auditor. Jade, who graduated from the Salon Professional Academy in Dagsboro, is currently a hair stylist in Sussex County.
Doug is commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel and a member of:
the Dagsboro Church of God, and on occasion visits High Tide Church with his daughter.
