Annual Delmarva Chicken Association’s (DCA) Booster BBQ

June 3rd, I attended the 6th Annual Delmarva Chicken Association’s (DCA) Booster BBQ. First congratulations to Long Farms one of DCA’s outstanding growers right here in the 41st District.

DCA supports 1,225 growers and 4,815 chicken houses. Our local growers raised 628 million chickens totaling 4.7 billion pounds.

Feeding these chicken required 270,000 lbs of wheat, 41 million pounds of soy beans and 96 million pounds of corn.

Delmarva employs more than 16,500 people to support this industry.

The chicken industry is vital to our community and it is imperative we do everything to support our Growers and Farmers to keep our agriculture heritage thriving.
