Anyone who has sat in weekend traffic on Route 1 knows our roads are already under pressure.
But this isn’t just about inconvenience — it’s also about public safety and emergency preparedness.
If a major emergency required our coastal communities to evacuate, thousands of residents and visitors would need to move inland at the same time. Roads like route 1 and 113, and other key corridors, have to be capable of handling that reality.
Doug believes getting results means going to Dover and building the case that improving Sussex County’s evacuation routes doesn’t just benefit District 41 — it protects Delaware residents and visitors from across the state.
It’s time to move beyond simply saying Sussex County isn’t getting its fair share and start building the relationships and arguments necessary to actually bring infrastructure investment home.
