Every Vote Matters — Especially Right Here in the 41st District

Voter Registration

Today was an amazing day.

I had the privilege of speaking with a 78-year-old gentleman who has never voted before in his life. After our conversation, he made the decision to register — and I now have his completed paperwork ready to turn in to the Board of Elections.

This year, he will be voting for the first time. Twice.

Once in the Primary. And again in the General Election.

That’s powerful.

It’s easy to assume that voting is only about the big presidential race every four years. But the truth is, some of the most impactful decisions affecting our daily lives happen much closer to home — in our local representative districts.

Why Local Elections Matter Even More

While presidential elections dominate headlines, local representatives:

  • Influence school policies

  • Impact property taxes

  • Shape local infrastructure decisions

  • Advocate for small businesses

  • Protect constitutional rights at the state level

  • Represent your voice in Dover

These decisions directly affect your family, your wallet, your community, and your future.

In the 41st Representative District, that means communities like:

  • Dagsboro

  • Frankford

  • Gumboro

  • Millsboro

These towns deserve strong representation — someone who understands the needs of working families, retirees, business owners, and young people just starting out.

A Movement Is Growing

In addition to this first-time voter, I’ve also spoken with two independents who are changing their party affiliation to Republican so they can vote red for Doug Conaway.

That tells me something important.

People are paying attention. People care. People want their voices heard.

And that starts with registering — and showing up.

Your Vote Is Not Just a Ballot. It’s a Voice.

Too often, people say:

  • “My vote doesn’t matter.”

  • “It won’t change anything.”

  • “Politics doesn’t affect me.”

But when a 78-year-old man decides that his vote does matter — for the first time in nearly eight decades — that should remind all of us how valuable that right truly is.

Voting is not just a civic duty. It is a privilege. It is participation. It is ownership of your community’s future.

The 41st District Deserves Engagement

The 41st District is filled with hardworking families, farmers, small business owners, retirees, and young professionals. The decisions made in Dover affect:

  • Land use and development

  • Energy policy

  • Education standards

  • Small business regulations

  • Public safety

  • Infrastructure and roads

If we care about our communities in Dagsboro, Frankford, Gumboro, and Millsboro, then we must care about who represents us.

Primary AND General — Both Matter

Many people only vote in November. But primaries are often where critical decisions are made. If you want your voice heard in shaping the direction of your party and your district, the primary is just as important as the general election.

This year, one new voter will be participating in both.

That’s how change begins.

Get Involved

If you live in the 41st District and haven’t registered — now is the time.

If you are registered but haven’t voted in years — this is your year.

If you are independent and want to vote in a primary — consider your options.

Local elections shape local life.

And local life is where we live every day.
