For too many families in rural Delaware, getting the care they need can mean driving farther, waiting longer for an appointment, or struggling to find a provider nearby at all. And when care becomes too difficult or too expensive to access, people may put it off altogether.
We need to do more than acknowledge the problem. We need practical solutions that actually strengthen health care in our rural communities.
That means working to attract and retain more doctors, nurses, specialists, and other health care professionals in Sussex County, supporting local training and workforce pipelines, and making sure the programs we invest in translate into real providers and real access for the people who live here.
As our communities continue to grow, our health care infrastructure needs to grow with them.
This isn’t about creating another program that looks good on paper. It’s about making sure a family can get an appointment when they need one, a senior doesn’t have to travel an unreasonable distance for care, and our rural communities have access to the quality health care they deserve.
